KS3 CURRICULUM (National Curriculum Year Groups 7, 8, and 9)

 

The School is obliged to teach the full range of National Curriculum Subjects and Religious Education to Key Stage 3 pupils.  The National Curriculum is made up of the following subjects.

 

CORE SUBJECTS:                                                   Number of hour lessons per week

                       

            ENGLISH                                          -           4 hours per week

            MATHEMATICS                              -           4 hours per week

            SCIENCE                                           -           3 hours per week

            ICT                                                     -           2 hours per week

 

FOUNDATION SUBJECTS:                      

 

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY      -           1 hour per week

            HISTORY                                          -           1 hour per week

            GEOGRAPHY                                   -           1 hour per week

            MUSIC/MFL                                     -           1 hour per week

            ART AND DESIGN                          -           1 hour per week

            PHYSICAL EDUCATION                -           3 hours per week

            CITIZENSHIP AND PSHE              -           1 hour per week

            R.E.                                                     -           1 hour per week

            Learn to Learn                                   -           2 hours per week (Year 7 only)

 

 

The school places great emphasis on ensuring that the curriculum is interesting, relevant and modern, and has a degree of challenge that engages all.

 

The school encourages all to have high expectations and positive attitudes to learning.

 

It is hoped that the majority of our KS3 pupils will achieve at least National Curriculum Level 5, (the National Average) in the core subjects by the end of Key Stage 3.
