ORCHARD ARTS 16 Jul 2008
Location:Orchard School Canterbury

The Orchard School is a special school in Canterbury. Last week was their Arts Week and they invited us to send a group to join in. On Wednesday 16th July a group of year 6 and year 7 students went along to Orchard.
Our first activity was to join in with some singing with members of a band called the Light Years, who performed at Glastonbury this year. They are hoping to make a record with 10,000 people singing the chorus of one of their songs. They recorded our singing and it will be added to the master recording with all the others.
Next we took part in a break dance workshop where everyone learned a sequence of moves. After that there was salsa workshop. Josh enjoyed dancing with Mrs. K while Tom and Nathan partnered members of Orchard School staff. All did really well and had a great time.
Our last activity was Brazilian samba drumming. Everyone played very loudly and quickly learned the rhythms and how to follow the different instructions.
It was a great day out and everyone behaved well at the Orchard and participated in the activities in a very sensible way.
